Twin Hills Wind Farm has ticked off several important regulatory milestones in recent months, marking great progress in the development and approvals phase of the project.
EPBC Referral Decision
In late May, the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water determined that Twin Hills Wind Farm Project is “not a controlled action” under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (Cth) 1999. This decision confirms the project can proceed without requiring further assessment under national environment law. The full referral and decision details can be viewed on the EPBC Act Public Portal.
Development Application and EPA Part IV Referral lodged
The Development Application for Twin Hills has been formally submitted to both the Shire of Three Springs and the Western Australian Planning Commission, a significant step in securing state and local planning approval for the project. Alongside the planning process, Wind Prospect has submitted a Part IV referral to the WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. The Development Application and Part IV referral represent the culmination of extensive consultation with the Shire of Three Springs, local landholders and community, and other government agencies and stakeholders, as well as robust planning, site design, and technical investigations.
Wind Prospect will be holding in-region community information sessions in August 2026 (dates to be confirmed), offering locals the opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions directly.
