Wind Prospect welcomes the announcement by the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, and the Hon. Josh Wilson MP, Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, of the successful projects under Tender 7 of the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), including the Willatook Wind Farm in Victoria and the Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm in South Australia.

Having originated and developed both projects, Wind Prospect is pleased to see their potential recognised through the CIS process. The projects, which are being progressed by ENGIE and EDF Australia respectively, are expected to make significant contributions to Australia’s energy transition while supporting the reliability and security of the National Electricity Market. The CIS outcome represents an important milestone in the development of both projects and reflects many years of technical, environmental and stakeholder engagement work.

Wind Prospect congratulates ENGIE, EDF Australia and the many people who have contributed to the projects’ development to date. Wind Prospect Managing Director Ben Purcell said the announcement was an encouraging outcome for both projects and the communities in which they are proposed. “The successful CIS outcomes for the Willatook and Whyte Yarcowie wind farm projects recognise the strong foundations established through the development process and bring both projects a step closer to delivering long-term economic and energy benefits for Victoria, South Australia and the broader National Electricity Market.”
